The first automobile accident in the United States is here after Lambert's Buckeye Gasoline Buggy hits a tree stump and bounces into a hitching rack. May 20, 2007: The wreck of the S.S. Anthony Wayne is found in Lake Erie eight miles off Vermillion. The ship, which sank on April 28, 1850, is rumored to hold $100,000 in gold coins.
