He created the Quaker Oats Co. and became an American Oatmeal King. His silos, which once held 1.5 million bushels of grain, are now hotel rooms and dorms. May 9, 1987 – Christopher Boling of Montpelier catches an 11.69-pound 33.25-inch state record Bowfin fish from Nettle Lake.
